The Vision Summit is a conference on social entrepreneurship (SE), corporate social responsibility and social business, which takes place once a year in Berlin. In the course of my research for the master thesis, I had the opportunity to visit this unique event.
The speakers list included Peter Spiegel, one of the funding fathers of SE in Germany, Prof. Götz W. Werner the fouder of the dm chain, Felix Oldenburg and Rainer Höll from Ashoka, Germany, Ramin Khabirpour president of Global Entrepreneurs and many many more
Interesting to see was the huge dynamic the “community” (the term is used to refer to the SE scene in Germany) has. Mainly young people under 35 years are pursuing actively their vision of how to change the world (btw, a book title of one very influential book on SE by David Bornstein). The conference had a good mix of social entrepreneurs, researchers, policy makers and companies. In consequence many interesting discussion developed during the breaks.
I was especially impressed by the quality and quantity of initiatives, which are already implemented in Germany and have the power to change the world of their target group!
Here some examples that are worth checking out (despite some of them are only available in German):

During the breaks I had the chance to meet some key figures of the German SE scene and could enlist their help for the qualitative research of my thesis.
All in all a great experience and it is definitely a must-go for anyone interested in the development of SE in Germany. http://www.visionsummit.org/576.html
